Adipic acid is the main raw material for producing PAE wet strength agent for papermaking. It is generally not added directly to pulp. The resulting wet strength agent is used for napkins, food packaging paper and specialty paper to improve the wet strength of paper. It belongs to an aldehyde-free and eco-friendly system. Its major downstream product is nylon, and papermaking is only a minor application.
