Dicyandiamide is rarely added directly to pulp. It is mainly used to synthesize dicyandiamide-formaldehyde cationic resin. Applications:Retention and drainage aid: Used in waste pulp and corrugated base paper to retain fine fibers and fillers.Wet strength and color fixation: Improves the wet strength of paper and reduces color fading of dyed paper. Traditional products contain free formaldehyde and cannot be used for food-contact paper.Decolorization and flocculation for wastewater (largest consumption): Treats colored white water and deinking wastewater from papermaking, reduces chroma and COD, and facilitates white water reuse.Research applications: Pulp bleaching aids and thermal stabilizers for transformer insulating paper (not mass-produced).
Industry trendsAdvantages: Low cost; Disadvantages: Traditional resin contains formaldehyde. Formaldehyde-free additives are gradually replacing it in high-grade paper.Tighter regulations push the industry to develop low-formaldehyde modified products. Raw material prices fluctuate cyclically with the calcium carbide industrial chain.
