I. Introduction

Full name: Poly(diallyldimethylammonium chloride) (PDADMAC), a high-charge cationic water-soluble polymer.
Key features: fast flocculation, excellent decolorization performance, acid and alkali resistance, low sludge output, free of metal residues.
Main applications
Water treatment: tap water, industrial wastewater, decolorization and COD removal for printing & dyeing wastewater;
Paper industry: anionic trash catcher, retention and drainage aid;
Textile color fixing, clay stabilizer for oilfields, antistatic agent for daily chemicals.
Common forms: 20% / 40% aqueous solution, and a small amount of powder.

II. Industry News (2025–2026)

Stable market growth: The global market keeps expanding. The Asia-Pacific region (China, Southeast Asia) leads demand growth driven by water treatment and paper mill wastewater reuse.
Product upgrading: Chinese and EU standards impose stricter limits on residual monomers. Low-monomer food/drinking water grade has become mainstream high-end product.
Widespread application of combined process: The compound formula of PolyDADMAC + PAM has become the mainstream solution for discharge standard upgrading and wastewater reuse in paper and printing-dyeing industries.
Emerging application progress: It can assist in removing PFAS (per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances) in water, now under pilot promotion.
Industry landscape: Fierce price competition for conventional grades. High-purity, ultra-high molecular weight and salt-resistant special grades bring better profit margins. China is the world’s major manufacturer and exporter.
