Basic Information

Full name: Polyacrylamide, abbreviated PAM, CAS No.: 9003-05-8
Structure: Polymer of acrylamide monomer, white granules/powder, hygroscopic, soluble only in water, insoluble in organic solvents

Four Types

Anionic APAM: Negatively charged, high degree of hydrolysis, suitable for alkaline/neutral water; mineral processing, sand washing, wastewater sedimentation, oilfield exploitation
Cationic CPAM: Positively charged, adjustable ionic degree; sludge dewatering, organic wastewater treatment
Nonionic NPAM: Uncharged, acid and high salt resistant; paper retention aid, acidic mine wastewater
Amphoteric AmPAM: With both positive and negative charges, widely applicable to complex high-salinity wastewater

Core Properties

Flocculation bridging, thickening, drag reduction, water retention; extremely low dosage, better performance when used with PAC
Note: The finished product is low-toxic, while acrylamide monomer is toxic; residual monomer content ≤0.2%

Application Notes

Prepare solution at 0.1%–0.3%, dissolve under low-speed stirring and use freshly prepared solution; easy to degrade under high temperature, strong acid or strong alkali
